Love to do it!
I have been personal training with Monique for nearly 8 weeks and honestly have never felt better. She has a way of making 'brutal' workouts including cardio, strength and balance reeducation, a motivating and successful experience.
Thank you Monique for helping me get in great shape!
In all the personal trainers that I've had, Monique has been the best that I have had. I had two other trainers,

My Personal Fitness Approach to a New and Healthy You!

Discovering the goals and needs of the individual
Our first meeting begins with me finding out your specific goals in detail. I would like to further find out the driving force behind these goals, but before we can determine appropriate exercise based on your needs we must evaluate your health history.

Health History and why it is important
The purposes of providing an accurate health history are to identify specific medical concerns or risk factors that could be irritated by certain exercises, but more importantly it helps me tailor a safe program design to better achieve our goals. The next step is to assess your levels of fitness.

Assessing the Six Components of Fitness
  • Body composition and girth measurements:
We begin with your body composition assessments by assessing muscle to body fat ratio using the skin fold caliper. This is followed by your Girth Measurements, using a measuring tape to determine your circumference (distance around) the major areas of the body. This way we both get a baseline number to see how the body changes over time.
  • Balance & Flexibility Assessments:
The ability to balance and stabilize in space is crucial for individual progress and development. Without coordinated movements the results will be lacking and increases the chance of injury. Therefore, a simple balance test will be applied. Flexibility testing plays a vital role in determining imbalances in the joints. We cannot administer proper resistance training without being able to train a muscle through a full Range of Motion.
  • Muscular Strength and Muscular Endurance Assessments:
I will utilize different forms of strength and endurance testing which involve a heavy bag push, pushups, and tricep pushups. These particular physical assessments help me to analyze current conditioning levels to start you off with the proper resistance training needed for a safe and effective workout.
  • Aerobic Capacity:
The last test that we will perform is a 3 minute step test which will help me determine if you have a high or low V02 max by using sub max testing. The aerobic capacity test provides valuable information on your current endurance performance and cardiopulmonary system. I can then figure out a safe and accurate cardio training zone to begin our program.
The exciting news is with the help of the assessments and your specific and realistic goals, we will begin an exclusive program that will create a lifestyle that is going to last.
Creating Good Eating Habits
Eating correctly does not mean dieting. In fact, diets usually end up having the reverse effects and usually the individual gains back more weight then when they first started the diet.

I will educate you with a simple yet effective healthy eating plan. It is very important to understand the basic, underlying principles of nutrition and nutrients. In today's world it seems as if the media consistently talks about "NO CARBS" and you'll lose weight. That is ridiculous. The truth is carbohydrates are a great wholesome nutrient and play a huge part in providing energy for working muscles. It is the type of carbohydrate you need to be concerned with. This is just one of the subjects will cover. In the long run, the more you know the harder it is to go back to your old unhealthy ways. There are a variety of different foods that you can eat and still lose weight while doing it. You'll come to realize the healthier you eat the more food you get to eat.
